Cracked Open

I started this painting in May of 2025 and finished in June of 2026, but I really only worked on it a handful of sessions. I was about a year postpartum with my daughter and reflecting on the end of my pregnancy (whew), new identity, breast feeding (surprise - that was harder than expected), and becoming a mother.

I love this painting so much that I turned it into giclee prints (a small edition, printed locally) and silk scarves (an even smaller edition, printed in London on silk).

Take to the Bed

charcoal and oil paint on canvas
May 2023 - September 2026

I started this painting when in the middle of fertility problems, recently diagnosed with PCOS, and starting to really understand/take care of my hormones. I worked on it through pregnancy, quietly in the background of my studio, postpartum, with my baby and now toddler. I recently had a break and knew she was finished. Representative of all the times I needed to take to the bed, for the highs and lows.
